Wireless Power
Wireless Power is something i often ponder as the idea is a rather cool concept to imagine. It could infact lead to a modern culture where every appliance is always in service, always full charged and always ready to be used at it’s peak.
Imagine walking into a Shopping Centre (No, Not a Mall.) with your mobile phone running low on battery and as you shop it charges and is ready to go between this and the next point of ‘WiTricity’ you come across. Allot of items could actually end up with much smaller capacity power cells becuase of this technology. The main example would be a Mobile Phone or even Laptops & PDAs especially the latter as commonly, although mobile devices, they are used in areas of technology and business. These areas would each have their own outputs of wireless power, on the train especially - some of these could even do away with fixed recharable cells all together deppending on where our modern society goes. However at this point i think i’m getting into the realms of hovering cars and holidays on the moon here.
Anyway, this is what has me all giddy about wireless power and it’s many, many uses. However there is more power based wizardry afoot.

This is pretty cool! My friend actually works for a company, PowerBeam, that creates wireless electricity but transmits via optical energy. If anyone is interested, check out powerbeaminc.com

Tesle worked on this, and got prototypes working. Edison and GE paid for the research as he was poor for 51% of the patent rights, then stomped him into the ground - they had just spent a fortune building the infrastructure for their new power plants, etc (which Tesla made possible by insisting on A.C. to transmit power :p) and weren’t about to see their money pissed down the drain. How can you cut off someone unless there’s a wire leading to their house?
Hello Lee, btw!
